Narrative Precision: Co-Editing, VFX, Sound Design & Color Grading for Award-Winning Short Film

This short film project demonstrates my cinematic post-production capabilities across editing, pacing, sound design, VFX, and color grading. As the co-editor, I shaped the emotional rhythm of the story and established the pacing structure that tied the film’s dramatic beats together.

I also served as the lead sound designer, visual effects artist, and colorist, with primary responsibility for the film’s:

🧩 Role Beakdown

1. Co-Editor (Narrative Pacing & Story Clarity)

  • Structured the story arc through precise scene ordering

  • Built emotional pacing between dramatic beats

  • Tightened dialogue rhythm for tension

  • Designed the momentum of transitions → conflict → resolution

  • Enhanced character moments using micro-cuts and timing control

2. Lead Sound Designer (12+ Layer Audio Beds)

I created a full audio environment using:

  • Foley: footsteps, clothing rustle, prop interactions

  • Battle scene SFX: gunshots, ricochets, reloads, impacts

  • Ambient layers: wind, urban noise, echoes, crowd atmosphere

  • Low-end drones for rising tension

  • Custom-designed bass swells for dramatic shifts

  • Reverb & spatial mixing for scene depth

This transformed raw audio into a cinematic, immersive soundscape.

3. Lead VFX Artist (Shootout & Battle Sequences)

Handled all visual effects across the action sequences:

  • Muzzle flashes

  • Light spill & environmental reflection from weapon fire

  • Bullet impact sparks & debris

  • Camera shake for recoil realism

  • Smoke layers & atmospheric haze

  • Blood mist hits (where applicable)

  • Seamless blending into handheld footage

Achieved a realistic, high-energy battlefield feel with clean compositing and physical accuracy.

4. Colorist (Mood-Driven Grading)

Developed the film’s color identity:

  • Balanced skin tones

  • Created a consistent atmospheric palette

  • Cool shadows vs. warm highlights for emotional contrast

  • Grain, texture, and film emulation

  • High-dynamic look designed for dramatic tension

  • Scene matching across multiple lighting conditions

Color grading dramatically elevated the cinematic quality.
